The Icecarl way of cooking fresh meat is likely different than what many are used to. [Since everything else seems to be...!] Tell me what is considered "properly" cooked.
[I love the mental image of these two just deadpanning at each other because I feel like that's probably what's going on right now.]
I am certain this meat can be eaten raw. The blubber and flippers are similar enough to our Selski, though much smaller. But if they will not be eaten, I will use them for other purposes.
I will cook the meat in a stew or a pan. This should be acceptable.
...I think I'll stick with the cooked meat. Just to be safe. [She doesn't know much about narwhal consumption. She knows the horns are sometimes used in arcane rituals, but not much beyond that.]
Are you experienced with cooking?
[She's not. She got so frustrated by cup sizes that she exploded the oven.]
[She really is... a little more willing to explode with potent rage, but otherwise yeah...]
A Shield Maiden must be able to feed herself on the ice.
It is not my preferred task, but it is necessary.
[It. Doesn't exactly answer the question but it'll be fine???? Probably?? She'll just sniff everything in the kitchen and throw it in a pot, that's how you make stew right?]
[i cannot tell you how jarring it is to see Milla described as "kind," even if she's a good girl in her very feral way]
You mean about Zelos and Simon.
[It's not phrased as a question, but it is a question. Because while her answer to how she's feeling would be "fine," other people dissemble a lot more than Icecarls do when it comes to talking about difficult things.]
[Milla's been in and out of the mess hall a lot this week, but there's still a lot in here that's unfamiliar to her. Like the drinks that are available today, warm and with a definite sweet scent to it... but hey when you don't know, ask, right?]
Ah, Raven. Do you know what this is? [With an offer of the cocoa to the other girl.] I am unfamiliar with it.
It is... strange. In the Dark World, it is easy to think any difference between us and the Chosen is due to their reliance on thralls and their weakness. Here, I see that this is not so. I think Tal would not be out of place here.
[Though imagining him trying to deal with All Of This is almost enough to make her snort with a mixture of amusement and disdain, so Milla quickly turns to take her own mug of cocoa, taking a sip.]
It took me a little while to accept that the comfort that the people of Earth enjoyed was... well, perfectly valid, and didn't make them more prone to falling under the influence of demons.
I think I was just... jealous, that they had it easy, and I had to fight constantly.
They call them the Underfolk, but that does not change what they are.
[Buuuuut as soon as there's even that small hint that maybe she might be jealous, Milla's expression locks down into a hard scowl. Teenager's gonna teenager, no matter the world.]
Wasn't saying you are, just saying that I was when I first arrived on Earth. [Her frown deepens as she drinks the cocoa, even though it is very good. Mainly because of the whole... slavery thing.]
...The rest of us don't use slaves, or thralls. For the record. At least I don't think so.
[She's jealous of everybody's shadows... they exist and follow you and aren't weirdly shaped... But whether she is or isn't jealous, Raven's nonchalance settles her. She's still frowning, but it's not the anger of a moment ago.]
This is good to hear. The Far-Raiders--my clan--will not trade with thrall-takers.
[She takes another drink of her own cocoa.]
...When you say the influence of demons, what do you mean?
That's good. It's good to have principles. [She drinks the cocoa, unperturbed by Milla's frown, as she is also frowning. Almost constantly.]t
...My father is a demon.
[It's not much of a secret.]
He tempts people using their shortcomings. My brothers are representatives for the big seven. Well, six, technically. Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Envy, Sloth and Wrath.
Week One
Post-Trial, Afternoon
That's... a sight.]
I suppose you don't want to waste meat?
cw: discussion of animal death
You must treat slain animals with respect. It would be disrespectful to leave it here to rot.

[She's not too fazed. After the shit she's seen, it's uh. Yeah.]
Seems callous to use it for something like murder and then just leaving it here.
no subject
[Frown.]
Though I do not know how many here will care to eat it. Most are used to food that is provided, not sought.
no subject
I would eat it.
[She used to be a vegetarian but like, not so much after the apocalypse happened.]

[Not her, but like... Milla please.]

But I would not say no if you offered to tell the others that it will be available. It is rude to hoard food.

...
Other than the narwhal... how are you feeling?

Week Two
Thursday
Ah, Raven. Do you know what this is? [With an offer of the cocoa to the other girl.] I am unfamiliar with it.

Never had cocoa before?

[But there's still one more, of course.]

We know these vices on the Ice. They lead men to dishonor.
But Pride is just as dangerous. It can cause even the most seasoned warrior to stumble.
[Her voice is quiet. This is something she's got experience with.]
no subject
[She doesn't say it for a few moments, nervous mainly.]
I'm Pride.
Or I was supposed to be anyway, according to him.
